Swedish Massage Therapy
Therapeutic massage is an important part of your health and wellness plan. It can help when you are injured, stressed, in chronic pain, or simply in need of a little relaxation & balance. Ongoing massage therapy can help to achieve a preventative approach to your health & well-being.
Techniques and pressure levels vary and are based on the individual needs and comfort level during each session. I am able to provide DEEP TISSUE massage, SPORTS massage therapy as well as restorative RELAXATION massage or in combination.
I have a large focus on WOMEN'S HEALTH in my practice and have undergone additional training in Pelvic Health Massage to be support my client's.
Massage techniques most commonly include compression, kneading, frictioning and mobilizing to improve the health and condition of the muscles, tendons, skin, fascia or connective tissue of the body.
Prenatal / Postnatal Massage
Prenatal massage is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the health and wellbeing of the pregnant woman as her body goes through the dramatic changes during each trimester. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation, decreases swelling in the extremities, reduces stress and anxiety, and relieves the aches and pains that accompany changes that occur during pregnancy.
During your treatment, can be treated in a variety of positions including supine (face up), prone (face down) and side lying. You will have the option to lay face down using my speciality pregnancy pillow, the “preggo pillow”, that comfortably forms around the belly and reduces all risks!
This therapy is an ancient healing art form which has been modernized with the introduction of flexible silicon cups and plastic cups with suction bulbs. Cupping uses negative pressure to gently lift tissue which helps to create space within compressed tissue. This allows for draining excess interstitial fluids and toxins, loosens adhered tissue and brings fresh blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles. It has many benefits including helping with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, muscular and fascial release. A Cupping Massage session is an amazing combination of traditional Swedish massage with cupping massage.
Due to the new procedures enforce by Healthcare Ontario and the extreme sanitization process, there will be an added charge of $10 for cupping treatments.
RockBlades are specially designed, innovative tools that offer a variety of techniques for soft tissue mobilization. Instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation (IASTM) is a popular fascial mobilization and pain relief technique that target precise points, focusing on restricted areas, scar tissue and other irregularities. The RockBlade philosophy is partly based on research conducted by Dr. Robert Schleip, who debunked the idea of fascial release because fascia is a very tough tissue that requires an extremely large amount of force to deform. We are less likely “breaking” scar tissue and lengthening tissue and more likely temporarily affecting fascial tone. Rocktape’s Medical Director, Dr. Steve Capobianco decscibes the technique “Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Neurosensory Modulation”. We are merely providing a stimulus to pain and pressure receptors, free-nerve endings, and other mechanoreceptors in order to allow our patients to move better.
